SkandSoft's SETU™ Implementation & Deployment Services cover the solution development activities of customers; right from understanding the business process to the solution implementation.

Business Understanding

  • An objective understanding of customer business processes, the various inter-dependencies, concerns etc.
  • A formal client consonance of our understanding and diagnosis of the business from the RFID perspective

Objective

To conduct an in-depth study of the customer's business processes and get it ratified by the customer

Process

  • Exhaustive in-house studies are conducted; covering the domain and the vertical; the identified customer fits into.
  • The studies cover the industry standard business processes and the inter-dependencies.
  • Competent personnel hold series of meetings with the customer's representatives, to understand the specific business processes and the distinctiveness in the processes if any.
  • A comprehensive report is prepared covering our understanding of the customer's business process, the constituents of the various processes (man & machine), the inter-links, the possible sources of concern etc.
  • The perspective while preparing this report is the potential impact of RFID technology.
  • A formal client consonance is sought on the above report.
Blue Print Evolution
  • A transparent bird's eye view of the entire landscape of the proposed RFID solution
  • Includes present and future scenarios; across technologies, business processes, budgets etc.

Objective

To design the blue print of the proposed RFID solution

Process

  • The technical and the business teams jointly prepare this document.
  • This report covers the existing processes, the changes foreseen, and the changed scenarios.
  • The technical team details various equipment needed for the solution.
  • This detailing involves the hardware, the software, the infrastructural changes needed, the proposed budgets etc.
  • The report also suggests various vendors for each category.
  • The business team details various business processes impacted, the possible areas and modes of re-engineering those processes to derive optimum benefit from the proposed solution and the costs involved.
  • The report contains the present picture, the future scenario and the benefits and the costs associated.
Pilot Program
  • Delivers a pre-defined miniaturized version of the proposed RFID solution
  • Customer has enough scope to assess the veracity of the solution, both from business and technology perspectives

Objective

To deliver a POC (proof of concept) of the proposed solution in a pre-defined business environment

Process

  • A pilot document is prepared initially which clearly defines the scope of the pilot, the business environment in which the pilot is to be deployed, the processes covered, the key success criteria etc.
  • A detailed document covers the existing business processes.
  • The deployment team deploys the necessary hardware and the software at pre-identified points in the business environment.
  • The complete RFID grid (including readers stationed at various points, tagging of men and machines if needed etc.) is incorporated into the pilot solution
  • The pilot solution is put in the execution stage and various observations are recorded along the pre-defined business processes.
  • The various problems faced during the execution are meticulously documented for future analysis.
  • A final report compares the recorded observations against the pre-defined success criteria.
  • A benefit analysis is included in the above report. These benefits can be later extrapolated to apply to the entire business.
  • Customer interaction throughout the pilot program ensures a first-hand "look & feel" of the proposed solution to the customer.
Solution Evolution
  • A transparent process for working on separate components of the solution
  • An open window to the client, to access development across any component and stage of development
  • Comprehensive documentation of the development process, including barriers faced

Objective

To develop the proposed RFID solution

Process

  • The entire development happens in a distributed environment internally. This results in enhanced security and speed of development.
  • The development environment is isolated internally with its own infrastructure to ensure that security is not compromised at any stage of the development.
  • The framework for the solution is prepared after incorporating changes if any to the solution blueprint.
  • The development then enters the detailed analysis and planning stage where the solution is broken down into individual components and deliverables clearly defined for each component.
  • A core project team comprising of technical and functional members takes charge of the development.
  • The development team sets a number of interim delivery milestones, each of which involves a full test/debug/fix cycle.
  • This phase culminates in the Scope Complete/First Use milestone. At this milestone, customers and the team assess the solutions functionality and verify that rollout and support plans are in place.
  • All new development is complete and deferred functionality is documented for the next release.
  • Comprehensive documentation throughout the development cycle ensures all the learning for a particular project is available for future reference.
  • Throughout the development cycle an "open window" approach allows for the customer to inspect the speed and the quality of the development.
Testing Program
  • Covers both internal and on-site testing
  • A unique internal testing approach, where testing team is always separate from the development team, ensures that even minor slip-ups do not proceed further and cascade.
  • Testing team includes functional professionals from relevant industry vertical, to help simulate actual work environment
  • On-site testing involves customer representatives (business and technical)

Objective

To test the developed RFID solution

Process

  • The developed solution is put through rigorous tests before the development is declared a success.
  • The testing process involves both internal and on-site testing
  • In internal testing a partial work environment is created to simulate the actual conditions.
  • The internal testing team comprises of technical and functional people who independently test the solution.
  • The testing is for functional compatibility, user friendliness, the security of the solution, the documentation etc.
  • Convenient time frames are requisitioned from the customer for the on-site testing. This ensures that the normal work flow of the customers is not disturbed or in unavoidable situations the disturbances are kept to a minimum.
  • Customer representatives (technical & functional) partner our testing and project members for a full fledged testing against pre-defined benchmarks.
  • The on-site testing is carried on for a pre-defined time duration allowing for the solution to be tested during "peak hours" and possible exigencies.
Solution Implementation
  • An induction program for partner employees who would use and be effected by the solution, initiates the implementation phase
  • A core delivery team; including partner members; to ensure a rapid and seamless deployment
